Charlie Parker This statue of Charlie "Yardbird" Parker was recently unveiled at the new 18th & Vine Jazz Museum in Kansas City, Mo. While it was generally praised, its detractors felt that the statue did not speak to young people, who even after seeing the sculpture, would remain ignorant of Parker's musical contributions.

Kansas City radio personality Mike Murphy, frustrated by the fact that Kansas Citians attempt to shun their "cow-town" heritage, created an event to celebrate KC's history. Participants in the annual "Cattle Drive" herd just under 100 cattle through the streets of downtown KC each year.

Kendall Kohr, a mentally handicapped man know throughout Northeast as the Mayor of Independence Avenue, died suddenly and unexpectedly in the early spring of 1999. The local Fire Dept., which had helped him in life, hosted this well attended memorial service. The crowd of faces tell the story.

Downtown Air Show Kansas City's Downtown Airport hosted their second annual Air Show in 1999 in conjunction with the VFW National Convention. Planes large and small stopped people in their tracks as they marveled at the sights.

This huge transport plane was one of the main attractions of the 1999 Downtown Airport Air Show. Alone, these engines provide obvious photographic interest. With the addition of the passer-by, much needed scale reference is added for far greater visual impact.
